Zero day in Lander
Day 85
Date: 25.07.2022
CDT Mile: Mile 1'719.6
Miles hiked: 0 miles / 0 km
Camping at: Motel in Lander
Sleeping in a bed and having showered before is a treat! I slept in and didn't leave my bed until 10.30am. That's the longest time I stayed in a bed since I started the trail or even longer ago! I needed it, I was so tired and in a lot of pain lately. Due to the blisters, I started to walk differently. My hips and leg muscles are very tight and tense. And I also seem to have a tendinitis in one of my toes on the left foot. I bought some muscle relief creme, one can smell me from far away now😁
We are in a motel at the very end of Lander. Getting to the Post office is an about 25 minutes walk. After that I meet up with Vista (who just made it to town) and Channy for lunch. Channy has met some of his hiker family and has decided to head out tomorrow early morning, hiking big miles through the Winds into Pinedale to catch up with the rest of his group. I would normally be able to join, but with my blisters I feel I have to take it a little easier. Plus the Winds are supposed to be very beautiful (and though!) And I wanna take my time to enjoy this section and take some swims in the beautiful mountain lakes and not feeling rushed and stressed out. Also, we are entering grizzly country soon, and I really don't wanna end up camping alone because I don't manage to hike the big miles. Luckily my good friend Vista is here and she seems to be fine hiking out together. A friend of hers will come and visit tomorrow, so she will only head out later in the afternoon, but that is totally fine with me. I take all the time to heal my blisters a little longer.
Time passes extremely fast when in towns and there are always so many chores to do. It's already 5pm by the time we left the restaurant and headed to the outfitters. We all need bear spray. I also need rope and a carabiner for hanging food and smelly products, new shoes and some other things from the outfitter. I get new shoes and hope I bought them big enough and that they will serve me fine. I changed back to altras. Fingers crossed! Heading back the long way to the Motel with all the bags I am done and just fall into my bed. One minute later also Channy gets here. We should still do resupply. At least the grocery store is just on the other side of the motel and they are open till 11pm. It's dark when we get back. As Channy gets picked up at 6.30am tomorrow to get back on trail, he packs up everything, while I fall asleep.
