Trail Magic

Day 4

Date: 27.04.2022

CDT Mile: Mile 49.5

Miles hiked: 14.2 Miles \ 22.7 km

Last night there was a heat lightening and I was not sure if a storm is rolling in. So I got up late at night to put some rocks on my tentstackes to better fix it. I didn't sleep that well and was awake when the first person got up, but then fell back into a really deep sleep and didn't notice all the others leaving. When I finally got up at 6am, the campground was cleared! We are going to take it easy today. It's a 10 miles hike only to the highway, from where we're planing to hitch to Hachita. We hike the miles before lunch, and just organized our hitch, when Roger and PlusOne from Ohio arrive and announce, that they are going to hitch with us - awesome! While waiting for our hitch, we name Roger Dogbite, cause he got nipped by a dog. Hachita is nothing but a small store, where we hang out for about 6 hrs. I charged all my electronic gears, we talked to all people passing by, eating and drinking coffee, I tried to upload my blogs for hours (it didn't work, Wlan was too weak), and just waited out the heat. At 6pm Jeff, our shuttle driver, takes us to his place. We get a shower, wash our clothes, drink beer, eat pizza, fresh pinapple and strawberry (wonderful trail magic). It was awesome! Sadly it was too late for shooting a gun. Next time maybe.

Couple of hrs later Razor drives us back to the trail head and we night hike 5 more miles. The stars were insanely beautiful! The spider's were not, their eyes shine in the light and the ground was covered with them. No cowboy camping (without tent) for me here, man! What a day, and its only day 2.5 out here!
