Camping at: Green River Campground
I didn't sleep that well. In our Bunkroom there is only Vista, me and a strange guy. Apparently a CDT hiker too, but no one knows him. He is in bed all day, but then leaves in the evening and returnes after midnight, drunk and what else. He kept on walking around, checking the fridge for food, going outside and being very noisy. I am tired all morning.
The weather forecast for today is rather bad. Loads of rain. So I am quite happy to not be going back on trail today. We were supposed to get a ride back to the dirt road which leads up to the Green River Lake Campground at 11am, but then it ended up to be 2pm. The trailangel picked Blizzard and me up in his Van, driving two more hikers up to Jackson, as they quit the trail due to injuries. We were all sitting somewhere in the back of is Van, on the bed or just on the ground. While driving, it started to rain. He will drive us to the dirt road, from where we will try to get another hitch up to the Green River Lake Campground again. And we are super lucky. Arriving at the dirt road, another car drives by and is willing to give us a hitch. So Blizzard and me just switch cars. That was easy! It takes about 45 minutes on the dirt road and while driving along, the weather becomes better and better, till finally the sun is out again!
Arriving at the Parkinglot we go and visit our friends (Karen, Phil, Terry, Tom, Eric and Regir) from the cabin, who treated us so well when we arrived here two days ago. I was looking forward to meet up again and say hello! And again we are being welcomed, as if we were old friends knowing each other already for a while! Tom is the Chef of the group. And he is a super Chef. Tonight he is going to cook Paella! He brought all the ingredients and even a proper Paella pan. I help him cooking, feels like being back home when I help out my dad cooking. In the meantime, the group has decided that we must stay with them tonight and I am not opposed to that😁 Just when we start to eat the delicious Paella (thank you so much Tom), it starts to thunder, storm and rain heavily outside. I am super happy I am here in this beautiful cabin and not outside, it looks super stormy! (After note: a 22-year-old NOLS (national outdoor leadership school) student got killed that evening in by a lightning strike accident, so not that harmless these storms!) From inside the cabin it is very nice to watch the storm and the lightenings, like a free TV show.
Tom has a suprise for me and packs out a sleepingbag Onesie, his daughter has gifted him🤣🙈 I love this thing and keep it on all evening😂 Tom also introduces us to a game called LRC (Left, right, center), which is a super addictive game playing with three dollar's, three dices and a cup to put in the dollars if you dice badly. We kept on playing it till after 10pm, it was so much fun!
The storm has finally passed and the sky is clear and is full of stars before we go to bed. It is simply amazing. I see the milkyway and three shooting stars before I put myself into the pull-out-sofa in the cabin. What a wonderful day again, thank you guys so much for spoiling us and letting us stay with you!
that stranger, if it is the guy in the pic, and it sound like him, is BearMan. At the Shadowcliff Mountain Lodge I almost got into a fight with him he was wasted and was looking for trouble. I try to avoid any kind of trouble. 🐒
We loved your visit at the Green river lakes lodge. The memories of the time there will keep us smiling for a long time. here is a link to a Timelapse of Green river lakes the morning after the storm. Eric recorded it.
