Nero day in Encampment

Day 76

Date: 16.07.2022

CDT Mile: Mile 1'520.1

Miles hiked: 0.4 miles / 0.6 km

Camping at: Trailhead CDT

After it rained and thundered heavily last night, the sun and blue sky are back this morning. I had to go to the Post Office today, which is only open from 8.30am to 9.00am. As it is more than a mile to get there, I had to get up early-ish. Luckily, I got a hitch not long after starting to walk up the road. I will change my warmer clothes to more lightweight clothes and change my t-shirt with my sunhoody again. My backpack is definitely a little lighter now and I gained some more space back, getting rid of all that clothes.

As Boss left the trail, I was not sure how to hike on. I asked Vista if I could hike out with her, however, she wants to do smaller mile-days than I had planned for and stay in Encampment for another day, only heading back to trail tomorrow late afternoon. When Chaney walks up, asking if we want to hike out together, I immediately agreed. We have about the same pace and mileage we want to hike per day. Let's do it. We enjoyed the afternoon at the river, I even went for a swim, doing resupply and at the restaurant eating😁 At 7pm Vista's friend, who is visiting her, drove us back up to Battle Pass. It's time to say goodbye to Vista, who will head out tomorrow, and Ducky, who already hiked the Basin and therefore is heading up to the Wind River Range. I hope we will soon see us again somewhere on trail and miss them both already. We camped right next to the trail, onlyh hiked 0.4 miles🤣 (it's technically not a zero day then!), so we can head out tomorrow early morning and try to hike my first 30 miles on this trail in one day!
