I had a very good night sleep and woke up fully energized. We hit the post office as soon as it opened and send our foodboxes ahead to Augusta and East Glacier. Feels so good to have this finally sorted! But then Soccermum has lost his rainpants and we kept on searching for them. I turns out that the cleaning ladies found them yesterday in our other room and put them in the hiker box. Someone must have taken them, as they are not there anymore. That sucks for Soccermom. Frank, our driver giving us a hitch into town, is also giving us a drive back to trail. But because of looking for the rainpants we only drive back to trail at noon. We hoped to be back on trail much earlier, but it is what it is. And we get to hike out with Piper and Duskman, which is amazing. The smoke is a little better today, but it is still a very hot day. Hiking about 5 miles we stop for lunch under some trees. 5 miles later, passing a water cache to fill up our bottles (thanks to whomever is maintaining this cache, this is amazing for us hikers!), we stop again under some trees. It is too hot to hike on and also we are leaving the trees now, so there would be no shade. We stop for about 1.5 hrs, waiting out the heat and enjoying our company before hiking out a couple of more miles (we also carried out a liter of wine which is gone now and makes hiking very easy🤣). We decided to take an alternate route, as there is water along this stretch, while the official CDT has no water for about 20 miles. We get water at a beautiful stream and also eat dinner there, and then all cowboycamp in one line under some trees in a cow field🤣 it's gonna be a very cozy night😁 sleep well!
