The day started as it ended yesterday. With some small but brutal steep uphill climbs. And the we reached the ridge line. Absolutely stunning and I did not expect it at all. I looooved this stretch. One of my favorite one's so far. After lunch we climbed a knees edge. There were still some snow sections to traverse and it when down brutal steep to the valley. Alternatively you could climb down to the valley and hike back up to the trail but the snow traverses looked doable to us. We carry ice axes and we should use them for sure once while hiking! So we decided to hike the trail. The first snow traverse was the sketchiest one. But it definitely looked better from the start then when we hiked it. Also, it was in the afternoon and the snow was already slushy. Kiernan hiked ahead, making good footprints for us in the snow traverses. Still, we used the ice axes. And it took as a long time to hike this stretch, but we made it safely, which is more important. The last 5 miles included two uphill hikes and a long, narrow and stony downhill hike to a beautiful meadow. Again, as normal after lunch, dark clouds popped up, and we even could feel some raindrops of a cloud far away, but the heavy winds brought the raindrops to us. Nothing bad, I didn't even put on my rain pants. Down the meadow the sun was out again in the late afternoon, perfect for us to enjoy dinner next to a beautiful little stream. Patches sadly still didn't catch up with us.
