It was again a very cold night. We hiked out and run into grizzly poo and some other animal tracks. Either wolves tracks, as they have black wolves up here or coyote, I can't say. Today is day 100 for me on trail! What an incredible journey it has been so far! And we enter Yellowstone National Park within the first 6 miles. I was looking forward to yellowstone since starting the trail but as it is that far up north, I was never sure if I will make it all the way. And here I am! And we are being welcomed to yellowstone with a privy! How exciting. Of course I have to use that one. And it is a fancy one, having yellowstone license plates in the toilet🤣
All in all it was an easy day with little climbing but beautiful scenery, very hot temperatures and many wildflowers again. A group of horse packers passed us and we found a huge skull with antlers from an elk next to the trail. We dried out our gear and even went for a skinny dip skin in the big shoshone lake, where we had dinner before we headed to our designated camp site. It turned our that the yellowstone office likes to put all CDT hikers to the same campsites, so there was Captain, Cheetah, Mouse, Spice, Smoothie, Vista, Veggie, Karma and me there. What a group! As flat and even ground was rather limited, I pitched my tent right infront of the bearbox, where we all put our food into. Mouse pitched her tent after mine and everyone else pitched their tents close around. However, I couldn't sleep. I was nervous. We just talked about yellowstone being most likely one of the most dangerous places for grizzlies as there are a lot of them here and they are used to Humans and probably know the bear boxes and campsites. And here I am, pitching my tent right in front of the bear Box. If a grizzly comes here, he will first run into my tent! Last year a Hiker got killed by a grizzly, camping at a park in a town with a couple of others hikers but keeping her food in her tent. The other hikers couldn't help anymore, even if they just camped a few feet away. Around midnight I heard Mouse moving and whispered if she is awake. She kinda was and I finally swapped my 'bed' into her tent🙈 that calmed me down and I finally fell asleep.
shoshone lake? Heart Lake I would say 🐒
