We got up and I hiked out shortly after 6am. Luckily, I checked my app in the morning to see that there is hardly any water today! After having water all 2 or 3 miles it is strange having no water for 15 miles again. I packed out 3 liters, not liking the pack weight with all this water. However, the trail is super easy today. I think this will be the easiest hiking day till we reach the Canadian Boarder. Mostly flat or downhills for 27 miles! I hike the first 6 miles to the Idaho boarder in 1 hrs 40 min, that is cruising! I am not that emotional as when I crossed the Colorado/Wyoming boarder but it is still a cool feeling to have hiked another state. 3 states down,
2 left to go. However, we will only hike in Idaho for a couple of days and then hike along the Idaho and Montana boarder before we hike into Montana till we reach the boarder. It is still about 840 miles and 150'000 feet in elevation gain (+\- 45'000 might meters) left till the boarder! We can feel the pressure to get these miles done now before winter comes. We really have to hike big mile days now and do little rest days, which I am not really looking forward to. I downloaded the audiobooks of Harry Potter, which hopefully will help keeping me distracted while hiking😁.
We keep on hiking, and I run into a southbound hiker again. He calls out 'Mr. Freeze, whats up?'. I can't remember him at first but we did camp together one night in new mexico! As he flipped and headed up north we pumped into each other now. I can't believe he recognized me and even remebered my name!
We stop shortly for lunch and head into Mack's Inn, which we reach just before the Post Office closes. We made very good progress today, I wish all days would be like this, then we would reach the boarder in a couple of weeks already! We share a hotelroom at the Marriott, a very very nice hotel with hot tub, swimming pool and river access. While our clothes are being washed we go across the street to a mexican food restaurant. We all crave for food and Margaritas🤣 first thing we order is a pitcher of Margarita and soon later get a second one 😃 Food was very delicious and being fed and clean I feel really good again. The only thing bothering me are my rips on my right side. I don't really know what happened exactly but think that when I stumbeled hard the other day, I tore my upper belly muscles and upper leg muscles on my right side and that hurts quite a lot now. Breathing and certain moves are very painful. Ibu doesn't help much. I hope the pain goes away soon.
