2nd Zero in Pie Town

Day 22

Date: 14.05.2022

CDT Mile: Miles 415.2

Miles hiked: 0 Miles / 0 km

Today we take a zero at the Toaster House. It's a great place and I like it here. Some of the group need a little rest. I get a little antsy, not sure if I wanna move on or stay. I am not in pain, but for sure my body would appreciate a break too. Also, there is no rush, as it looks like a big part of New Mexico is soon being closed due to fire restrictions. We are talking about finding alternative ways, such as biking the road, renting a car and slackpacking the road (one person drives the car with all backpacks, while the others hike without packs on) to still get to Colorado, rather than skipping it all. But we will see when they officially announce which parts are being closed in a couple of days and how we solve it.

We go to get breakfast to one of the two restaurants here and otherwise enjoy the day, taking a shower, writing blogs, talking to other hikers and taking care of your body.

In the late afternoon we get up again to get dinner at the second restaurant. You gotta try them all😁 we get a huge sunday special, no chance for me to finish it all! And today there is the full moon eclipse, starting around 9pm. It was a very special atmosphere and we had a good view of the eclipse. I have never seen it like this and we were all breathtaken watching it.
