Day 125: ⛺@ mile 1'847.9 - Windigo Pass

Date: 10.08.2018 Miles hiked today: 30.3 Miles / 48.76km Total Mileage: mile 1'878.2 I got up early today and was fast as well. I started my hike today with Helter, Apachi and Darko at 5:45am. That's good, cause we plan to hike 30 miles today. That's due to water being very rare today. So we have a river in 8 miles and a water cache in 30 miles. That means 23 miles without any water (well there is a lake but it's far off trail and hence I want to skip this option). The river is beautiful and full of ice cold water. I fill up 4 liters, which makes my backpack quite heavy! And we habe to walk up to the highest point of Oregon and Washington! I'm soo lucky that this point is not very high:) it's exacrly 7'560 feet high! And from now on its only downhill till the boarder! I wish it would be! But thankfully Oregon has been very easy so far, I can't complain. The smoke is getting better, we can also spot some blue sky, finally after about 2 weeks being in the smoke! On the way down I also pass a cool marker, I didn't expect - 3'000km! Wow it's always impressive seeing markers in km rather than miles because I can realize it better. I've walked 3'000km to that point here, that's crazy! That also calls for a lunch break with a nice little nap after (not mentioning all the annoying flies and some moskitos). The second part of they, we had to hike 12.3 more miles, was rather hard for me. It took ages to reach camp, my backpack was very heavy with all that water too, and when I finally did do so at 7:30pm, my whole body sore. Specially my left hip and foot. It turned out I carried 2 liters too much. I only drunk 2 liters in that 23 miles waterless strech. 2 extra kilos i carried around all day! But it was not a very hard hike today, all uphills and downhills are very moderate and the weather was also not brutal. At the water cache several hikers camp. We cook dinner and relax before it's time for bed (I love that time when I can crawl into my tent).

Highest point in Oregon and Washington.  Only downhill from now on!

After lunch nap,  well deserved:)
