Day 109: ⛺@ mile 1518.9 - Chilcoot Creek

Date: 25.07.2018 Miles hikes today: 27.0 Miles / 43.45 km Total Mileage: Mile 1'545.9 The night was cooler again which made me sleep better. Also the thunderstorms stopped during the night. It was a beautiful sun rise this morning with a red sun! I think that's due to the smoke which covers everything in a thick, white smog. I was ready shortly after 6am, being the first one to leave. The next water source is in 10 miles but I still have loads of water left and hardly have to fill up. As I'm early I decide to do a little detour to a beautiful lake and have a morning swim. Some other hikers where there too, having the same idea. The water was nice, not too cold but still refreshing. I feel clean and cool again, as if I'd taken a shower:) while returning to the trail I run into Parmesan and I hear someone calling Mr. Freeze ! It's Helter, Apachi and Fareweather! I thought they are ahead of us. Together we stop for lunch and a nap break before we return to the trail. It should be an easy, rather flat trail for the next couple of miles. We all plan to camp at the same camp spot again tonight as the next camp spot is more than 5 miles further and we don't plan on hiking more than 30 miles today! Again this camp spot is marked as a 2 tent camp site but for sure we can fit more tents there too. Apachi, Helter, Fareweather and me arrived early. This spot again will work fine for all of us, we just have to make some room. While I cook dinner (I've pitched my tent already), also Parmesan and Duchess arrive. Parmesan told me this morning that his leg is hurting, looks like he's getting shin splints. That are not good news! Therefore he is hiking much slower now and trying to take small breaks more frequently. A joint is being handed around. I take one drag and soon later return to my tent for a good night sleep :)

Beautiful sun rise!

I hate getting up early but to hike when the sun rises is my favourite time of the day. Its so quiet, the birds and other animals start to get up and welcome the new day and the sun light has this beautiful warm colour and it feels like this moment only belongs to me before the day gets busy again.

Still very smoky but at least We are above the clouds.

Our lunch spot

Apachi tries to look cool and trying to convince himself as if this is the most comfortable position! The stone he's lying on is not very comfortable at all but hey he's a super light hiker, no camp shoes, no pad - haha!
