Day 105: Clark Spring - ⛺@ mile 1'463.9

Date: 21.07.2018 Miles hiked today: 27.1 miles / 43.61km Total Mileage: Mile 1'463.9

Well our plan getting up early didn't work out! We all kept sleepung in and only started to move at 7am! While it feels nice sleeping in, it doesn't feel so nice starting hiking that late. I still have to hike all the miles! And I only start hiking shortly before 8am. Oh man! But it was a nice sleep, because we are higher up the temperature dropped in the night and it wasn't that hot. I cannot sleep very well if it's really hot and doesn't cool down much at night. I guess we all needed that sleep. Today is not much to tell about really. Because we started late we kept the lunch break a little shorter (still time for a little nap of course!). We hiked all day in the forest, up one side of the hill, down the other side and up the next hill on so on. But we could see Mt. Shasta, which Is now much closer, in between. A beautiful looking mountain, actually a volcano. We arrived quite late at the camping again, which was already very busy and we had to squeeze in and create some new spots. However, we did our mileage goal of 27 miles today which is fantastic! We have heard that there is a weird deer around, sneaking around the site at night and he already showed up when we cooked dinner! Make sure to get all your belongings in your tent if you don't want it to be chewed on by the deer. Also Duchess has received a message from our other hiker friends Flash and Jeremy who were one day behind us. I was already wondering why they didn't catch up with us yet. Now we know, they have both been infected with the Noro Virus. Flash has even spent one night at the hospital because of dehydration! It looked like they got it at the Burney Mountain Guest Ranch, where I have been a day before they arrived too! I'm glad that I didn't catch it too, I'm still feeling good! Im so sorry to hear so and wish them all the best and a speedy recovery. Obviously they will have to take couple of days off for recovery but I'm sure they will catch up as they are both strong hikers.

Mt. Shasta is coming closer!

Green hills are our views today if we are not hiking in them!
