Day 101: Lassen NP Boundary Spring - Old Station

Date: 17.07.2018 Miles hiked today: WOHA 32 MILES / 51.49 KM Total Mileage: Mile 1'377.4 I didn't sleep very well tonight and when my alarm clock went off I ignored it. A little bit later i heard a hiker getting up and I started to get awake too, but slowly! Today should be an easy day with only 3 small uphill hikes. Additionally I can hike to the Terminal Geyser, a geothermal steam vent, and the Boiling Springs Lake, a large sulfur spring, both of them are just a little off the PCT. I didn't figure out how far I want to go today, let's see.

The Terminal Geyser is impressive and cool to like at but the Boiling Spring Lake is absolutely beautiful! After the second climb of the day I decide to break. And see there, Dirty Money, Sausage and Rene are breaking there too! I hoped to see them soon again but didn't think that it's gonna happen that soon! But they are just ready to leave, while i still want to eat my cereal. I catch up pretty soon again and we hike on together. At a beautiful lake I decide to stop for a little swim, while they hike on again. I can't just pass a beautiful lake without swimming in, especially as the temperature is perfect - it's a really hot day and the water is cool but not to cold. The next section is through a burger area, which looks very cool. But is lunch time soon and it's getting really hot. I actually agreed to meet with Dirty Money for lunch but I can't hike any further. Its too bloody hot! I stop under a tree and prepare my lunch. I'm not hungry at all because of the heat but I need some calories. After the break I move on and see Dirty Money 1.5 miles later! She was stopping there for lunch. Together we hike on. We want to get to Old Station today, where we hopefully get dinner. It's a nice and easy hike and we have a lot of time to talk. At the next water source, a river, we stop for a while. It should only be 2 more miles to Old Station. We keep sittinb fit a while it's a really nice place. Sausage and Rene catch up, glad to see us. They hoped to see us soon. They have found out thandat Old Station is spread out into 2 centres and that the closer part is all closed after 3pm. It's already 5pm now so nothing will be open anymore. Hence, we have to hike 4 more miles. That means about 8 miles to go from here and that again means I will hike my first 30 mile day today, actually 32 miles in total! Wow I didn't expect to hike that far today! 8 miles hiking after 5pm, we will arrive late! And we did it, around 8pm I arrived at old station! Woha 32 miles in one day, that's more than a marathon. Well we hike but we also carry our backpacks! I'm so proud of me :) we get food and some drinks but I'm so tired all I want is sleep. I still have to pitch my tent and it's pitch dark by now. Around 10pm I head into my tent, while Sausage, Rene, Dirty Money and some other hikers are still out! I don't know how they do it! Tomorrow I might hike straight to Burney, which is another 34 mile hiking day! But I'm not quite sure about it yet, first I need sleep!
