Day 94: ⛺ @ mile 1'198.7 - ⛺@ mile 1'226.6
Date: 10.07.2018 Miles hiked today: 27.9 Miles / 47.79km Total Mileage: 1'226.6 What a hell of a night. Just when I was getting ready for bed, lying on my sleeping pad suddenly the sleeping pad was flat! Oh no I must have gotten a whole! And a big one too or several ones. It was fine last night so I must just gotten it now. I blow the pad up again but within minutes it's flat again! I don't know where the whole is and in the dark and also without water it is impossible to find the whole. That means I slept uncomfortable on gravel, or better that I didn't sleep much! That simply sucks! I was really annoyed! I need my sleep. That's also why I didn't get up early today. It will be a long day hiking and I also have to find a lake or something to try to find the whole and hopefully be able to flick it today. What a struggle! I did manage to be on trail around 6:30am. For the first nearly 5 miles it's an uphill hike. Sometimes the trail is covered in bushes which scratch your legs. After 10 minutes hiking Pinion and Amanda catch me. They walk really fast or better I was hiking really slow! So I take the chance and hike with them, making better progress! Its a steep and hard uphill hike. I thought ive done the harder part last night but nope, this is definitely harder today! On top I stop for a breakfast break while Pinion and Amanda move on. Thomas walks by and together we hike on for a couple of miles until I run into Flash. We break shortly and move on together. Also Parmesan joins. I love hiking on my own as you keep bumping into hikers all the time and you may hike together for a little while or may not, however you feel. There are no commitments. We stopp for lunch after already hiking 17 miles today. What a good day! As water is getting scarce again you make sure to stop next to a water source. My plan is to hike 10.6 more miles and set camp next to a little stream. After that there is supposingly no water for about 9 miles again. Hence, I have enough water to cook, clean, wash, body rinse and find the whole on my sleeping pad and can refill my bottles for the next day already. I made it there not too late actually. And the little river is fine enough to do all the things I planned to. I did also find the big whole, or rather a scratch, in my sleeping pad. But what a bummer, I must have lost my repair kid today! I took it out of the backpack and stored it outside so if I pass a lake or river I could check for the whole and fix it. But as I didn't pass any lakes or streams big enough I didn't use it and it must have fallen out! That really sucks! Now I know where the whole is but can't fix it! All I have is KT tape, which I used when my Achilles was in pane. May that works too?! I give it a try! It's late already and time for bed. Early start planned also tomorrow!
1'200 mile marker! (Didn't miss that one and glad to make a short break from the uphill hike!)
We pass all these beautiful lakes but never close enough to jump into. They are teasing us here!
