Day 92: Donner Pass -⛺ @ mile 1'179.3
Date: 08.07.2018 Miles hiked today: 25.5 Miles / 41.05km Total Mileage: mile 1'179.3 Since exactly 3 months I'm hiking the PCT today. I must say that I would have forgotten about this special day, but Joanne send me a text message. Already 3 month's, that's incredible. Time passed very fast on one hand side, but looking back to the first couple of days it seems like ages! I've learned so much during these 3 months, passed the hot desert, hiked the beautiful and snow covered Sierras, climbed Mt. Whitney and Half Dome, had many laughter, met so many cool new faces, cried a couple of times too, hiked more than 1'000 miles, seen many rattle snakes and thousands of lizards, one bear only, couple of deers, marmots, squirrels and horned toads, seen many spectacular sun set and rises and many many many incredible things more.
This morning is one of the harder mornings for me. The first 5 miles are kinda boring to hike and I feel like I don't really move. Luckily I run into Sausage and Rene, an American couple I've met today for the first time. I hiked with them for a couple of miles until we reached the Sierra Club Alpine Hut. Talking and hiking with them for a little while gave me new energy and motivation. I stopped at the hut for breakfast and moved on soon later. While stopping at a water source and for lunch Sausage and Rene decided to join me (I passed them again during the morning). It turns out that they also know Dirty Money, the Swiss hiker I met a couple of days ago only. But they haven't seen her for a while. I told them she is only a couole of miles or behind and that we shall soon meet her again!
During my afternoon hike I run into Milkshake, an American girl i seem to look similar too cause people would call me with her name. She flip floped, hiking from Ashland down to Lonepine, and could give me a couple of information about hiking NorCal. Also i hiked through many flower fields and climbed some volcanic stones. The camp spot I plan to stay tonight is also a water source, the next and only water source after my lunch break! I assume that other hikers have the same idea as me and that the spot may be quite filled. I don't want to arrive too late and get there around 5:30pm. Only Fareweather and Apachi are there already and I can choose my camp spot. But as I assumed more and more hikers come along. Most of them I know of. Finally also Sauasage and Rene arrive here and quite late in the evening Dirty Money comes too! We've just talken about her this morning, Sausage and Rene are so happy to see her again! It's a nice evening filled with food, talks and laughter until it's time for us to go to bed. Tomorrow it's a 16 miles hike to to Sierra City and I would love to be there before lunch! Let's see!
A new day is starting...
And I fall over that stone trying taking a picture of the hut! Thanks for I'm wearing a backpack so I had a soft fall (well scratched my legs but otherwise all fine;) )
Sierra Club Hut is getting ready for the winter
Hikertrash at the camp spot. Because this is the last water for a while and we had to hike to that water for some miles too many hikers decided to stay here for the night.
