Day 87: 12th 0 Day in South Lake Tahoe

Date: 03.07.2018 Miles hiked today: 0 miles Total Mileage: Mile 1090 I slept well in a real bed and in a house! Since I started the trail I have not been in a house, rather than a hotel room. It feels so nice! Melva and JP spoil us, offering us whatever we want. We decided to stay one more night with them if they don't mind. They don't mind at all, which is great! While Joanne and Giggles want to eat breakfast at a restaurant i eat some cereals they offer. I have to go to the Post office and sort out my many bounce boxes I have been sending along the trail. And also my parents have send me a birthday present to South Lake Tahoe which i am looking forward to since Toulomny Meadows! So while i will sort out and receive my parcels Joanne and Giggles go for breakfast. I have 5 boxes and I repack them into two boxes, a spare clothes box and a material and other stuff box. And I get to open my birthday present from my parents and also irene, joannes sister, has send me a present. I'm so exicted! From my parents I got some Swiss chocolate bars and some needed ice breaker underwear! My mom asked my a couple of days ago, after she has already send me the birthday parcel, what i could need from back home. My parents are coming to America for vacation soon. But they will be in different locations than I will be and we are not going to meet each other. However, she could send it to me while being in America. I told her I could do with some new ice breaker underpants as i can't find merino wool clothes here! And now I open my box and I find ice breaker underwear. That's awesome! How could she know?! Irene send me some chocolates, a very nice birthday card and some wine for the trail! Thank you so much! I forgot to mention that my friends from back home created a really nice video for my birthday which i really did enjoy a lot! Its a super cute idea which surprised me out of the blue! Thank you so much for thinking of me on my birthday and being so creative even if I'm that far away! Sorting out my boxes took me about 1 hour. I just leave the Post office when Flash arrives. And some other friends are coming too. I can have a hitch back with them if I'm willing to wait quickly. So why I wait outside JP and Melva drive back. They wanted to check if I'm still there and if I might need a hitch back to the centre. How sweet is that?! As I have a hitch option already they take off. But the gesture to come back and check on me is incredible nice! Being back in town I want to check out the casino. I heard thrre is a big buffet with seafood and as much as you can eat for 30 USD. I want to try that out but not sure when it's on. Waiting to cross the street, i run into Flash again. They Str going to watch the Soccer Game England-columbia and he invites me to join them. First I check out the casino then I happily join. So buffet is on every night on the top floor from 5-10pm, but seafood is only on Fridays. Oh no I wanted crab legs but it's only Tuesday and we are not staying till Friday. I rerun to the village and run into Zero, with whom I hiked a couple of days ago. He's also going to watch the game at the brewery. That's how cool it is on the PCT. You get to know so many people, with so different background and stories and always meet them again in towns. The soccer game was exciting till the end. Can't believe that columbia missed two goals in the shoot out! But happy for England to win the game. We move on to our favorite pizza place in town. They also have happy hour from 2-6pm every day, a beer is only 2 bucks. That's where you meet all the hikers! :) flashes group decides to hit the trail today and ar leaving around 4pm. Just as they leave some other hiker friends arrive and so Joanne and Giggles walk along. We have a beer and a yummie drink more (called happy camper, we just had to try it out) before we left for the casino buffet to eat dinner. JP And Melva advised us to create a membership and we will get a discount for the buffet. The membership is for free, we even get given a free cap and a 7 USD discount for dinner, not a bad deal at all! The buffet is ok, but not much more. There are a Lot of people. Im not a big Fan of buffets but i wanted to try this one out. It was not really worth it, also because we were not that hungry. All the beers in the afternoon must have filled up my belly. We didn't eat that much but all of us felt bad and sick soon later. Our tummies hurt of all that food. We can hardly walk anymore, look like we are drunk. Our bellies really hurt badly as I've never experienced it before. It takes us more than 30 minutes to walk the 0.5 miles back home, but for sure it was good to walk a little! My belly still hurts thought and I need some time before I'm ready to lay on my bed!
