Day 85: ⛺ @ mile 1053.2 - ⛺@ mile 1079.3

Date: 01.07.2018 Miles hiked today: 26.1 miles / 42.05 km Total Mileage: Mile 1079.3 Total up/down: 5089/-5024ft 1551/-1531m Because we would like to hike today 24 miles if possible we got up early, actually our usual time at 5:15am so we can hike latest at 6am. I'm ready at 5:50 am and because the morning light looks so nice I leave and hope to get some nice pictures. A lot of tents are already gone, so hikers must have left very early this morning! After 6 miles Joanne and Giggles stopp for breakfast. I don't stopp for breakfast anymore but prefer to eat my bar or two while hiking. Specially if I know it's gonna be a long day I prefer to hike on and may take a longer lunch break or so. So I hike on, just breaking for a couple of minutes to take some pictures, refill my water bottle or to enjoy the view. The day started with loads of small but steep ups and downs. I hope to hike up the first mountain before lunch time or eat lunch on the way up somewhere. I'm good in time and so I make it to the top just shortly before 12am. I hiked 16 miles in just about 5 hours now, not too shaby! That means that I only have like 7 miles jeft to go. As I'm not feeling that hungry and it's very windy up there (I'm sitting behind a rock and am well sheltered from the wind but the sun is burning down on me), I decide to move on after about 30-40 minutes break. I just can't relax enough up there to take a nap but may I find a nice spot to do so soon along the trail. But I hike along and don't really notice how far I've gone already until I realize it's only a little more than 2 miles to the Highway 88 and Carson Pass, our goal for tonight. I've also heard that there is some trail magic there. Nothing big or similar to yesterday but like a coca cola and may some sweets. Lets check it out! The last uphill however wears on me. I take many little breaks and it takes me much longer than I thought to reach the parking lot there. I think it's something before 4pm when I finally reach it. That's still pretty good to hike 23 miles before 4pm. There are some other thru-hikers sitting outside the information centre of Carson pass. All of them I know or for sure have seen them before. Free coca cola and a sticker for 50 years PCT for us! That's awesome! I'm waiting for Joanne and Giggles and while all hikers who where there when I arrived moved on, other hikers arrived. Some of them are hitching to South Lake Taho from here, skipping the 15 miles hike. I feel so tempted to do the same but i want to hike every single mile of the PCT so I'm gonna hike it. Don't think about it anymore...! Meanwhile I am still waiting. I know that a couple of hikers want to hike 3 more miles to a camp site, the closest one from here with water next to it. Even though I've already hiked 23 miles or so today I feel that I could easily hike 3 more miles. Also because I'm relaxing here since nearly 2 hours, waiting for Joanne and Giggles. At 6pm they are still not here. May they have also decided to set camp a little earlier. I decided to hike the 3 miles, that also means that I only have 11.5 miles to South Lake Taho tomorrow! And that means that I could be there just around lunch, depending on how long I have to wait for a hitch! Awesome! The 3 miles are easy and feel like only 1 mile. I reach the camp spot before 7pm but it's pretty busy already. My tent still fits in fine, but some more hikers arrive after me. This is a very busy spot here tonight. I'm sure one or two hikers here are snorring so not sure how well I sleep tonight :( I should have hiked on a little but now it's definitely too late. Anyway, South Lake Taho tomorrow, can't wait anymore!!!

I have never seen that before!

Flower field

I simply love the flowers. And every day they seem to be more!

Beautiful morning sun!

Good night!
