Day 84:⛺@ mile 1044.1 - ⛺ @ mile 1053.2
Date: 30.06.2018 Miles hwouldn't wouldn't today: 9.2 miles Total Mileage: Mile 1053.2 We got up at 6 am this morning and hit the trail by 7am. Our initial plan is to hike about 20 miles today again, that brings us into Lake Tahoe earlier and it is also a good training to start hiking 20 mile days again. It's a beautiful morning and I hike along. After about 3 miles I run into Maui. 1 mile later we have to traverse a street. I did not expect a street out here. It seems so remote. But also I see a big white van standing there. The first thing a hiker thinks when seeing a big van or truck is "trail magic?" But normally it turns out that someone is just parking there. But today it could be different. There is a sign saying "is hiker hunger real?" And the van is marked with limited trail magic solutions. Is this really real? Could it be that I do experience trail magic out here? I call Maui to quickly come here and check it out. I'm so excited! And yes, really this is trail magic! But not just normal trail magic, this here is trail magic deluxe style! I've heard of it but never run into one before. How cool is that? Dan welcomes us and offers breakfast, it's only 8:30am. Bagel with gravey and bacon, hot coffee, tea, chocolate or chai tea, fresh fruit salads and whatever you want! I'm still feeling like I'm dreaming! Can this be real? By the time I'm done with breakfast also Joanne and Giggles turn up. This is so amazing, can't put it in words. But then I don't know that it even gets better today. For lunch they have homemade pizza or burgers (they brought a pizza grill and a BBQ here!), more salads, and various deserts. Well that's it, I'm staying here! More hikers drop in and we are all enjoying this place soo much. Dan, the man responsible for the trail magic, is awesome! He has been preparing homemade pizza dough since February. All salads and cakes are homemade too. This is the best pizza I've ever had in America so far! All of us have the same opinion, this here is incredible and the very best trail magic we have ever experienced and most likely also the best trail magic we will ever experience on trail. It's hard to top that. We are sucked in to the vortex :) like in the song Hotel California, "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave"! (And believe or not but I'm typing this blog in lake Tahoe and a guy is just playing this song right now!). So time passes and it's lunch time - pizza time! Dan personally brings the first pizza to me and I'm so happy! It's soooo super yummie. While we digest and eat and relax and repeat it's suddendly late afternoon! What happened to our 20 miles hiking goal this morning? Well this is for sure not happening anymore! But at least a couple of miles we should hike today. We leave this beautiful place around 5pm and hike about 5 miles before we call it a day. Apparently many other hikers got stuck at the trail magic too and had the same idea about camping here. This was an absolutely fantastic day which for sure will stay in my memories. Thank you Dan and all other trailangels so much!
Beautiful flowers
The best ever trail magic on trail!!!
Is hiker hunger real?
