Day 82: Kennedy Meadows North - ⛺ @ mile 1023.2

Date: 28.06.2018 Miles hiked today: 6.3 miles Total Mileage: Mile 1'023.2 I slept in this morning till 8.15am. I was awake earlier but just stayed in bed and enjoyed having a bed and it's warmth and the feeling that I don't need to go out and hike soon. The room was all mine as all other hikers left already for breakfast. I don't know when I had this the last time, a room all for me, what a luxury! I'm not in a hurry as I await Joanne and Giggles and assume they will be here around noon. I spend the morning with cleaning my gear, resuppling, eating, chatting, waiting for Joanne and Giggles and just relax and hang around. It was wonderful. Joanne and Giggles really turned up shortly before 12. Haven't seen them now for 4 days! Joanne told me that she was struggling too and that they only hiked 8 miles the first day. Good to know that I was not the only one struggling! But I guess hiking should become easier from now on as we finished the high Sierras officially now reaching Kennedy Meadows North! We went for lunch and while Joanne and Giggles did their resupply I relaxed again :) it such a nice back patio with all the hiker trash you never get bored! Actually we wanted to leave around 3pm but time flies by and just as we get ready around 4pm a lady offers us a ride back to the trailhead. Perfect timing. It can be quite hard to get back to the trailhead. Also Joanne and Giggles waited for an hour this morning for a hitch down here. Maoi joins us and all 4 if is squeeze in the back of the car. We are getting better and better in squeezing as many hikers in a car as possible:) so we hit the trail shortly before 5pm. Quite late actually but better than never! Our ambitious goal for starting our hike that late is 6.3 miles and climb a big uphill. So off we go. The uphill has very steep sections but thankfully it's not as hot anymore. Plus it's so nice out here I really enjoy the hike. I feel so good, I nearly fly up the hill. Don't know where all the energy suddendly comes from but I love it. Wish it would be like this very day! I arrive at the camp spot around 7pm. Pitch the tent and cook dinner. And you know what? There are no moskitos here! That's why we enjoy the evening and can sit outside for a while before heading into our tents.

Hikertrash! All the hikers hang out in the back.
