Day 56: 8th 0 day in Lone Pine

Day: 02.06.2018 Miles hiked today: 0 miles Total Mileage: Mile 750.2 While Jason and Hauser are getting ready to go back on the trail I'm still in bed. What a great feeling! It's mean but it's so nice if others have to get up while you can stay in the warmth of your bed!

Toady I want to get a backpack shake off and buy new shoes. My feet are still hurting but I'm able to get them into my crocs, humbling along. I get ready too, checking out (i change the hotel and stay with Joanne, Irene and Peter tonight) and walking to the "2 foot adventure" truck. Mary, a previous pct thru hiker, has bought a super cool old truck which she drives along the pct to provide advice, backpack shake downs and sell thru hiker specific gear items and trail food. We have met her already in Warner Springs and yesterday she arrived here in Lone Pine. On the way there i walk into Hauser and Jason who  are just getting into a motorhome. They have been trying for about an hour to get a hitch back to the trail.

The morning passes by while Mary and I shake down my backpack, serve other customers and chat along. I finally got rid off my towndress! Jep, Florian i did it but i did love having it and it may find its way  back in my backpack again in oregon :) And some other small stuff. All together it was nearly 1 kg I got rid off.

After that success I went back to the sport gear shop to buy new shoes. My feet are still not perfect and I can really not tell which shoes fit best. So I go for the one I like best from the design. It's again a la sportiva shoe, but a different model (called wildcat, isn't that cool already?), and half a size bigger (I'm now wearing a 40.5 while at home I normally have a size 38!). I really really hope that finally this shoe fits me!

The afternoon we spend at the hotel pool enjoying the sun together with other hikers (all in their underpants and bras, not sure what other hotel guests think of us!) ;).

After getting the resupply done in the evening (i have bought far too much food again, it's always the same issue!) We are getting our backpacks re-organised, lie on the beds, listening to music and me writing this blog. Sadly Irene has decided to break her hiking journey with us here. The Sierras are hard and the altitude is hitting her too. However she is planning to join us again after South Lake Taho. Peter will still join us and may even extend his hike. It's 12pm and we really should hop into bed so I will stoop typing now. Mt. Whitney we will be there soon!

Mary with all the stuff I finally got rid off!

Mc Western Donalds here in Lone Pine

Cute back garden with the desert mountains in the back
