Day 47: ⛺@ mile 665 - ⛺ @ mile 684

Day: 24.05.2018 Miles hiked today: 19 miles Total Mileage: Mile 684

High evaluation: 1300 meters

Low evaluation: 810 meters

We had our camp site all for us last night. And as we camped a little further down the trail than most others the trail seemed to be all ours in the early morning. Today is a big uphill day with 3 climbs. We started with the rest of the uphill hike we did yesterday and down the other side to the water source. There we met a thru hiker who is carrying a hose ??? What do you do with a hose (gartenschlauch) on the trail??! Mistiscous... when we later asked him is answer simply was: "I gotta bring that hose to Canada". Ok whatever you need to do, do it. I'm glad I don't need to do it:)

The second climb is on the schedule now and while it started gently it would have some steep climbs in it later on. And it was a real mountain again with rocky ground which feels so nice. After an uphill climb there always comes the downhill hike. We take it easy and enjoy the hike with no pressure. At the next water source we stopped for lunch and a nap. But the flies and ants are a little annoying. Still we manage to spend a couple of hours there:) after filling up our water bottles the last uphill climb starts. It's about 4pm but it is still quite hot. The next water source is only 2.3 Miles ahead so I only carry 1 litre of water to keep the weight down. I can't remember the trail to be very steep but it was the hardest uphill we did today. May because of the sun or the lazy afternoon, low motivation because we still miss kermit and the miles we hiked already but it seemed to take ages to hike these 2.3 miles. Other male hikers passed us in an incredible speed, running up this mountain and the where all stoned! How does that work??! Cannabis is actually really big here on the trail. You can nearly smell it all the times. It makes me very tired so perfect before going to bed but I don't know how you can hike stoned. I still like to have all my senses while hiking. At the warersource we refilled all of our bottles as the next warersource is only tomorrow. This is also the last camp spot for a few miles shown on the app. Normally we always camp at one of these "official" camp spots but tonight we want to hike on if possible a mile or two and try to find a suitable and if possible flat camp spot along the way. Joe Dirt seems to struggle and hence we are looking for a camp site already half a mile later. But that is fine for me too, we have done enough today. And we were lucky enough to find a suitable spot a couple of meters further up the trail. The other guys traded a joint for some ice tea so we cooked dinner and smoked only very little but I got so tired soon after that I went to bed already around 7pm! Good night ya all!
