Day 43: ⛺ @ mile 612 - Mountain  Peak ⛺

Day: 20.05.2018

Miles hiked today: 22.2 miles Total Mileage: Mile 634.2 This morning we got up with a beautiful sunrise. We could see the mountains of the Sierras far away, it was amazing! We hiked on to the next water cache which is only a couple of miles away. It's a downhill walk back to the desert and then a slight uphill hike again. There are some cows around. I made sure not to look at them and to pass them quickly. They had baby cows with them and I don't wanna mess with them! We also passed another horned toed. I asked giggles to pick it up for me but then nearly peed in my pants while holding it ;) they are totally harmless to say. But I did get a little nervous! And we passed the 1000 km marker! The first marker shown in km and not in miles. Even so I am getting familiar with miles it was still impressive to see that I already hiked 1000 km! Only little more than 3000 km left till I reach Canada!!

The scenery was beautiful with loads of big Joshua Trees. I had lunch in the shade of a big Joshua Tree and enjoyed to cooler air. I took off to head to the next water cache. Thanks to trailangels we had a water cache about every 15-20 miles otherwise this would have been a 40 miles waterless strech. I don't know how one can do this without the trailangels. They are really essential for us to bring water in these remote and very dry areas, just incredible. Someone said very nicely, they are the clue who stick the trail together. And they won't accept donations. I would have been so happy to leave some cash there for all their work and as a sign of appreciation. The last 4 miles was an uphill climb. Quite steep and often on sandy ground which made it harder. But the views were worth it. On top of the mountain we pitched our tent. Kermit shared it with me which was lucky again. The wind picked up and I had to get up and repitch a stake! But too tired to be annoyed with the wind I soon after felt asleep.

Ps: I'm sorry but I have not yet worked out how I can put the pictures in the right order. So the day is mixed up.
