Day 42: ⛺ @ mile 587.2 - ⛺ @ mile 612
Day: 19.05.2018 Miles hiked today: 24.8 miles Total Mileage: Mile 612 The sun was out and no wind - perfect. Let's start hiking. Soon later however there was no sun but fog and a little wind. Really?! But due to the fog the temperature was perfect to hike. I've noticed that it makes a big difference to hike in the heat or when it's cloudy or foggy. You need less water, less breaks and you can walk faster if it is not that hot. Before lunch we hit the 600 mile marker. It seems like we only passed the 500 mile marker a day or two ago and it's great to notice that we keep on moving on. We breaked for lunch at the water source, ate, napped and refilled our water bottles. Full of energy again we decided to hike on 10 more miles before we set camp. It was a beautiful afternoon hike through the forest. I really loved it as it was so different than the desert and kind of a pre-taste how the sierra will look like. A doe crossed our way just a couple of meters in front of us. I heard a noise and did see something big and brown but only realised it's a doe when it jumped out of the trees. There is a big Tentsite where we refilled our water bottles again. First we were thinking of staying there for the night but it was full of bikers making loads of noise. Trash was laying around everywhere and plastic bottles, aluminium and beer bottles were laying in their fire. How disgusting and it really upset me. With their dirt bikes they are driving around here which is also very very noisy. Better to leave this place behind. What a pitty. The last miles or two of the day normally are the longest and hardest. You just want to arrive and are tired of the hiking. Today it was a beautiful evening but still I was looking forward to pitch my tent soon. Our tent site was beautiful with a view to the upcoming mountains. This evening the visibility was not the best but you could see Mount whitney from here on a clear day.
Sun came back in the afternoon!

Every now and then a tree blocks the trail.
