Day 35: Casa de Luna - Sawmill Camp
Day: 12.05.2018Miles hiked today: 20 miles Total Mileage: Mile 498.2
After our two 12 miles days we want to do a couple of miles more today. About 20 miles is our goal. Therefore we wanted to start early. The fog is still here but god thanks the rain stopped. After getting some pancakes at Casa de Luna we were the first ones to get a ride back to the trail. The fog was not a thick as yesterday and we spotted some of the landscape around us. Nice green hills. We only stopped for the first time 9 miles later. We passed a small cave and got some water. In the afternoon the sun would shine through the fog from time to time but the fog always stayed. We arrived at our camp spot already at 4 pm and shortly were thinking of hiking a couple of miles more so we hit the 500 miles marker while hiking for 5 weeks. It's only 2 miles away but the next camp site is further away and we need to get some water which is available at this camp site. Tomorrow is another day and we shall pass the 500 miles marker early in the morning. So we set up camp there, still in the fog and wind. The water was very well hidden on top of some hills and it turned out to be a rain tank but the water was nice. Just when we returned to our tents we were informed that there is a couple which invites us for beer and food. Hell yes, let's go! The couple was white trash but very welcoming. There was beer, hot dogs, steak, a camp fire etc. Soon other hikers heard about it and there were about 10 of us standing around the warm camp fire. Hopefully the weather clears up tomorrow and the sun will come back!
