Day 25: Silverwood Lake - Camp Site @ mile 347

Day: 02.05.2018 Miles hiked today: 17.7 miles Total Mileage: Mile 347.2 Juhui today is the day were most PCT Thru Hikers look forward to - we are going to Mc Donalds! :) This is the only Mc Donalds we thru hike along all the PCT, so we better take that chance! It's only 12 miles ahead from our camp site and we would like to be there around lunch. So we left camp at around 6:30am today. It was raining all night but thanks god the weather cleared up a little and it stopped raining. The fog was still there and we would get some sprinkles of rain drops now and then but not much more. The bushes along the trail however were still wet and so did our legs. The last 5 miles or so we were literally running. The boys (Paul, Hauser and jason) were catching up and we got hungry. Joanne as our lead hiker made sure we reach Mc Donalds asap! The boys could not keep up (Hauser nearly did) and we placed our order at 11:30am. Perfect timing! We stayed in Mc Donalds nearly 4 hours enjoying ourseleves and the warm place, eat, relax etc. And Rahel finally could get trail name - Kermit the frog :)! She is always wearing green, even her backpack is green and she picked a drink at the petrol station with Kermit on top! Hello kermit! We planned on hiking 5-7 miles more today as tomorrow is going to be a very though day uphill to nearly 8500 feet from 3100 feet where the Mc Donalds is. With our full bellies and heavy backpacks as we also have to carry loads of water (there is no water until wrightwood which is 27 miles ahead and considerung all the uphill we have to hike) we were not as fast anymore. The landscape was also beautiful and we enjoyed our hike. We managed to get 5 miles in and called it a day.
