After a beautiful very warm night which I enjoyed loads (first night I was not cold!) we got up early. It is going to be a hot day today and we want to avoid the heat by getting as many miles done in the cool morning as possible. We have done the first 11 miles pretty well and I enjoyed a long lunch break in the shade of a little tree next to the little creek in the canyon I am following since about 4 miles and which I will follow all of todays' afternoon. Joanne left a little longer than 1 hour ago when I started my afternoon hike again. About 7 miles to go to our camp Site. It's a great afternoon hike. The canyon is awesome! But at one point I got lost and it took me about 20 minutes wandering around before I could spot other hikers and noticed that I am completely wrong! However, later I was told that every other hiker got lost on that point too and that we share the same experience, inlcuding Joanne. The trail was badly marked there. The last 2.7 miles I struggeled badly. I thought I would be faster, my feet and back sore and I was done with todays' hiking! At least the temperatures dropped and it was not that hot anymore. It felt like ages when I finally arrived at our camp site. Totally tired I washed myself in the cold canyon, cooked dinner and went to bed. Once the sun sets, the temperature drops massively. But the moon is very bright out here, even if it is not yet full moon. No torche required to go to the toilet at night, the moon even makes a shadow! It feels like leaving our bed light on which is actually quite nice!
