Day 14: 1st Zero Day in Idyllwild

Date: 21.04.2018

Miles hiked Today: 0

Total Mileage: 178.00

Yeahh finally our first 0 day! That sounds so cool and relaxing. However,  reality is different! We slept in till about 9am. I didnt Wanna leave this bed it is so confortable and warm but we have to keep going. Of course the first thing we did was looking for food. I think hiker hunger starts to kick in now (you are always hungry no matter what you just have eaten). I did eat to much but it was so yummie i simply couldnt Stopp eating. My belly grow twice its Size!

Next on plan was new shoes. My ON shoes treated me well but half of the sole was gone in less than two weeks Hiking which is very disappointing also considering the price I paid for them! But i cant keep on walking in them. Luckily Idyllwild has a sport Store where I bought my new salomon Trail runners. I hope they will treat me nicely too. Lets find out tomrrow where I am back on the PCT (i wished i could ade one more 0 day here! Love it). I also bought a knee support bandage for my left knee and some ankle  support bandages. After that massive breakfast i could hardly move anymore and I went back to my bed where Joanne had to wake me up 1.5 hours later! We had to go Food Shopping trying Not to buy too much and heavy Food. Following our calcultions worth for 6 day our backpacks are going to be very heavy again ( we Really tired to minimize weight and dont bis more Food than required). We just dont do very good with lightweight Trail Food and got some delicious Food as fresh Avocado, tomatoes, philadelphia cheese, bell peppers etc to stuff our lunch tortillas with (still not ready to fill them with peanutbutter and jam yet which is a very common lunch on Trail!).

To keep costs low our hikers Group decided to cook Dinner at the cabin and Joanne and me supported this with a biiig bottle of wine. Now feeling great again I am typing this blog. Some hikers left for bed already. I still have to organise and pack my backpack and find out how to get back on the trail tomorrow. I shall move on to get some sleep too!
