Day 2: Hauser Creek - Lake Morena - Camp Spot
09.04.2018
12.2 miles hike
Mile 27.6
Alarm was set for 6:30 am. We packed a bar to eat on our way and started to hike at 7:40. Having used most of our water the backpack felt muuuuch lighter! How did we manage that heavy weights yesterday?! However, I still prefer carrying too much water than to little as some other hikers did. The first 5.5 miles to Lake Morena were mostly uphill with a 600 hm change in elevation. We run up that hill and reached Lake Morena in 2 hrs! The views were beautiful. We stopped at the famous Maltshop for a breakfast Burrito and started hiking again shortly before 12 am. The heat kicked in but we did well. The landscape changed and we really enjoyed the beautiful views. We stopped again at Boalder Oaks Campground where we refilled our bottles with water and relaxed our feed which were starting to sore a lot. Later we decided to hike some more miles to the next camp spot 1.6 miles ahead. Tomorrow we want to get to Mount Laguna which is a big hike, all uphill with 1000 hm to climb. Whatever miles we manage to hike today will make it easier for tomorrow. Luckily the camp spot was still empty and we called it ours for the night. Florian soon joined us. We had a wonderful evening and got into our tents around 8pm. Good night!
